Galway, Ireland

🍀💚A short 24 hours in Galway, might I add certainly not enough time! I fell in love with Galway, as I quite often do with new cities💒. But Galway had such a homey feeling, and so much less touristy. We took the citylink bus from Dublin City centre at bachelors walk straight to Galway. The 🚌 drops you off right down the hill from Eyre Square. The square is the central location where the cutness of Galway begins! Start your 24 hours off right by heading into fibber magees for a pint and an ‘instagram worthy’ wing photo, before checking into your hotel! There are alot of super cute hotels in this area but the one we stayed at was such a good location for everything and a very reasonable $95 a night. The imperial hotel was perfect for a short stay and they had a quaint little pub attached to them that had a great super cheap buffet if you are looking for a quick meal.🍴🍻 Next stop after hotel check in should be heading towards the Quays pub! Lots of street music 🎶 to listen to along the way, and plenty of shops to peak into as well. We stopped at Quays pub for a pint and listen to a female guitarist singing covers of lots of familiar american songs.. This certainly would not be the last stop at Quays pub! We stopped back in about 3 or four other times in 24 hours, lol! The live music is superb and the interior is something straight out of a movie set, it was just perfect! The claddagh ring: ✋the hands represent friendship, ❤the heart represents love, and the 👑 crown represents loyalty, get yours at the famous Thomas Dillions, just a few doors down from the Quays (pronounced keys.) If you walk straight past the ring shop you come to a bridge called Father griffen road, the rapids of this water are the strongest in all of Ireland, honestly surprised I didn’t drop my📱. If you look across the water at the blue house that is where Ed Sheeran filmed Galway girl, along with other bars throughout the city. We stumbled upon Monroe’s Tavern which is on the other side of the bridge from the Galway cobblestoned streets, super relaxed and chill vibe which makes for a great stop to escape the rain while exploring the area. you might be starting to see a theme? Best place in town to warm up for sure has to be Dali bar, warm fire places and DE-LIsH coffee with baileys! Yummy in my tummy! Right around the corner is the Oscar Wilde & Eduardo Vilde statue, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” Most people probably take really nice photos with this statue, instead I decide to hang upside down off of their necks When you google best fish n chips in Galway it will come up Mcdonaghs, but it didn’t look too appealing, instead we tried Kings Head, holy smokes this was literally the best I have EVER had!! It was like heaven in my mouth…. too much? Lol but seriously, shame on you if you don’t try it! The morning before heading back to Dublin we decided to try out the Hop on Hop off bus, Mike and Ian were the ones giving the tour and boy was he hysterical… I also don’t think it was coffee in his cup 🥃! It was €12 a ticket and they are good for 48 hours! The bus took you down the cutest street that I think I’ve ever seen, apart from Nantucket, the street is called Thread Needle…. I’m in the market for a house if anyone has extra 💰laying around! He was super informative and you get to see parts of the city you normally wouldn’t get to see if you are just on foot. We didn’t get to see the cliffs of Moher, which is a €30 all day tour, or the Aran islands tour which is €34 by boat only on a clear day, but those are surely things I’ll be doing on my next trip to Ireland! Most likely flying into Shannon airport to explore more of the west coast of the island next time 🍻until next time ✌🏼 stay classy Galway, stay classy!
